The first step this summer seems to be making space in the squad for new faces. Leeds are actively trying to move on players before completing deals for potential new signings. It appears that Leeds will be in need of serious defensive reinforcements soon. With Junior Firpo reportedly close to an exit, there could be holes in the squad this summer.
This week saw the Whites put in an initial bid for Udinese star Jaka Bijol. The Serie A side rejected the first bid, but news from behind the scenes claim that both sides are confident of completing a deal soon. There seems to be quite a distance in the valuation of the player.
According to Tutto Udinese, Bijol has given the ‘okay’ to Leeds United over the deal. Both clubs now have to reach an agreement in negotiations before the deal can be finalized.
Bijol addition comes at the right time
A deal for the Udinese star means a straight swap with Max Wober. One defender in, one defender out. And many would argue the Slovenian international is a huge upgrade. A player that was being eyed by Champions League finalists Inter Milan is a high calibre player.
