Leeds United seem to be addressing each area of the squad with their recent transfer plans. The club kicked off their activity by announcing a deal on Sunday.
Lukas Nmecha arrived on a two-year deal, joining as a free agent from Wolfsburg. Leeds snapped up another signing from the Germany after Ao Tanaka and Illia Gruev. The attack has now received some much needed depth.
Next, the focus is set to be on the defence. A deal is currently being agreed with Udinese over Slovenian defender Jaka Bijol. The 26-year old has shown his quality in Serie A over the years, and could be a huge addition for the Premier League.

There are also plans on upgrading the current midfield options. Habib Diarra from Strasbourg is a major target, but no official bid has been made yet.
Now, reports from Portugal claim Leeds could make another huge signing. A Bola are reporting that the Whites continue to hold a significant interest in Southampton midfielder Mateus Fernandes. The youngster was one of the only bright spots for the Saints as they got relegated.
Southampton are expected to demand around £30million for him, with the Portuguese outlet suggesting that Leeds are ‘willing to match’ the fee.
Fernandes would be a solid addition
The Southampton midfielder is one of the best young talents in England. His first season at St. Mary’s showed that he has the quality to remain in the Premier League. Multiple clubs are after his signature this summer. He would be a nice addition to the core of players the Whites have now. Fernandes’ dynamism and attacking intent would compliment the likes of Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka.
His ability to also play further forward as a number 10 would also provide some much needed competition for Brenden Aaronson. A fee for the Portuguese U21 star looks steep, but it could be a huge investment for the future.
