Leeds United receive massive injury boost with star set to play ‘sooner than expected’ – This will decisively turn the promotion tide

Leeds United are preparing to take on Swansea City at Elland Road on Saturday as they push to get their season back on track with eight games remaining in the Championship campaign. Their recent form has been patchy, but Leeds have received a massive injury boost with a key star closing in on returning to action.

Daniel Farke’s Leeds United have stumbled ahead of the international break and have won just two of their last five Championship games, which has allowed Sheffield United and Burnley to close in on the Whites.

However, Leeds are still at the top of the Championship table, and six of their last eight opponents in the Championship are in the bottom half of the table, and the Whites have not been beaten by any of the teams they will face from now until the end of the season.

Leeds have received further good news as it seems their gamble of avoiding a knee surgery for Ethan Ampadu is now set to pay off in the coming days and weeks.

Leeds United captain set to play ‘sooner than expected’

The Welshman has missed the last five Championship games due to a knee injury and Leeds decided against conducting surgery as that would have ruled him out for the season.

The Whites opted for non-invasive rehabilitation methods and it emerged during the international break that the Welshman has been making good progress.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, there is now increasing confidence that the midfielder will be back in action for Leeds ‘sooner than expected’.

The midfielder opted to stay back at Thorp Arch and undergo his rehab rather than join the Wales training camp and there is now real optimism around his return.

It is still unclear when he will return but Farke is likely to get his captain back in the team soon as Leeds push towards automatic promotion.

Ampadu’s return will decisively turn the promotion tide towards Leeds

The fact that Leeds decided to take the risk with Ampadu with a conservative method rather than let him undergo surgery shows his importance.

The Whites have missed his presence in the team, and their form has suffered, with Leeds winning just two of their last five Championship games.

With the midfielder returning to action soon, it will boost his teammates’ confidence and his return will bring back his leadership and calmness to the Leeds midfield.

He is unlikely to be available for the Swansea game, but the news of his potential return will act as a huge motivation for his teammates to get a win at Elland Road.
