Leeds United enter the January transfer window with a clearer sense of purpose, placing increased focus on enhancing their attacking options as they aim to strengthen their fight for Premier League survival.
The Whites have already acted to improve their forward ranks, securing Facundo Buonanotte on loan from Brighton after he rejected a similar move last summer.
That push for further attacking reinforcements has been intensified by recent tactical changes. The move to a 5-3-2 system has placed added emphasis on having a consistent goalscorer, while limited depth in forward areas has further exposed the need for additional attacking support.
Leeds have ruled out signing Werder Bremen’s Romano Schmid following Buonanotte’s arrival. However, they are still in the mix for another player they wanted to sign last summer.
Leeds United retain a strong interest in Harry Wilson, who wants to leave Fulham
Wilson was close to joining Leeds on deadline day last summer until Fulham pulled the plug on a deal with minutes left in the last transfer window.
He has been Fulham’s most potent attacking threat and played three key passes despite being average against Leeds at Elland Road on Saturday.
Fulham boss Marco Silva has been pushing him to sign a new contract. However, according to TEAMTalk, Wilson wants to return to the north of England.
He is keen to leave Fulham, and Everton, Sunderland and Nottingham Forest are interested in getting their hands on the winger in January or next summer on a free transfer.
However, Leeds still retain a strong interest in signing Wilson after missing out on him on the final day of the transfer window last summer.
Buonanotte’s arrival has not affected Leeds’ interest in Wilson despite the focus being on signing a striker before the end of the ongoing transfer window.
Leeds’ interest in Wilson makes sense
Wilson was open to a move to Leeds last year and, provided the club remain in the Premier League, there is little reason to believe he would not be keen on a summer switch.
The Welsh international has been an influential figure for Fulham, underlining why Marco Silva is so determined to keep hold of the winger during the current transfer window.

Even in a below-par Fulham display against Leeds, Wilson stood out as one of their more effective performers, creating three key chances despite a quiet team showing.
Should he become available on a free transfer, it would make perfect sense for Leeds to explore bringing him to Elland Road in the summer. His arrival would add valuable Premier League experience and provide the squad with another high-quality, versatile attacking option.
