Leeds United see advantage handed to promotion rivals following EFL announcement – Leeds have a chance to apply pressure this weekend

Leeds United are focused on ensuring that they return to winning ways when they travel to Kenilworth Road to take on Luton Town on Saturday. The Whites need three points after winning just one of their last five Championship games. The run-in is going to be tight with three teams vying for two automatic promotion spots, but one of Leeds’ rivals has been handed a boost.

Daniel Farke and his Leeds United players are under pressure to repair their form and maintain their position in the top two of the Championship for the remaining seven games of the season.

A run of one win in five has raised the stress levels of Leeds supporters who do not want to drop into the playoffs, and even Daniel Farke does not want to talk about it.

Sheffield United are currently leading the Championship table with a two-point lead while Leeds and Burnely are level on points with 81 each in their bag.

Chris Wilder’s side have received one more gift from EFL and Sky in the form of a fixture shuffle.

Leeds United see Sheffield United handed a big advantage

Leeds will kick off early at 12:30 on Saturday afternoon and have an opportunity to pile some pressure on Sheffield United and Burnley with a win at Luton.

The Blades travel to Oxford United this weekend, and after the game, they were only scheduled to have only one more Saturday 3 pm game at Stoke before the end of the regular Championship season.

However, EFL and Sky announced earlier today that Sheffield United’s trip to Stoke City has been picked to get televised and will now take place on Friday night, 25th April.

During a pivotal time of the season, Sheffield United will play the penultimate game of the regular Championship campaign ahead of Leeds and Burnley.

Wilder’s men can apply an immense amount of pressure on their two promotion rivals if they get all three points at the bet365 Stadium.

The Stoke City game is still three weeks away for Sheffield United and Leeds can’t afford to look that far ahead in the automatic promotion race.

The Yorkshire giants have won just one of their last five games, but this weekend Leeds have a chance to turn the tables on their promotion rivals.
