There are some questions yet to be answered after Leeds United secured Premier League promotion this week. The club have had problems during the season, but strung together a run of wins to seal their place back in the top flight.
Many people think the turning point was the Swansea City game. The Whites were in poor form ahead of the Swans game, and the result made their plight even worse. Two errors from Illan Meslier cost the club two points on that day.
Since then, Daniel Farke has brought Karl Darlow in as the club’s number one. Leeds have conceded just two goals since the veteran took his place in goal.

It has been rumoured over the past few weeks that Illan Meslier could be on his way out of Elland Road at the end of the season. Names like Angus Gunn and Sam Johnstone have been mentioned over the past few days.
Now, Caught Offside is reporting that any potential Leeds United deal for Nick Pope has been shut down. According to the report, the deal is seen as too difficult to get across the line. It is highly likely that Pope remains at Newcastle ahead of next season.
Leeds reportedly cannot afford the fee being quoted for Nick Pope, and thus the club is set to move on to other targets.
Leeds must move on from Meslier
The Frenchman should not be allowed to be first choice keeper next season. Aside his declining ability, his presence in goal will not inspire confidence. Karl Darlow might not be a better stopper than Meslier, but his calm demeanour in the post helps his teammates. Daniel Farke even praised the Darlow for his performances on the way to being promoted.
