Rasmus Kristensen was one of the signings in the summer of 2022 when Jesse Marsch was backed to strengthen the team. The Danish defender had an okay start to his career, but after some sloppy performances at the back, Leeds fans were not impressed.

When the club dropped down to the championship, Kristensen secured a loan move to AS Roma in the Serie A. He did not really have much success there and returned to the club in the summer. Kristensen joined Eintracht Frankfurt on a season long loan, as he was not a part of Daniel Farke’s plan for this campaign. After a bright start to the season, the consensus around the German club is that they want to sign him on a permanent deal.

Kristensen has featured for Frankfurt in the Bundesliga and has impressed before he got injured at the end of October. The club have now cleared the defender to return after the international break. Frankfurt CEO Markus Krösche, is very happy with how the Leeds loanee has played this season:

“We are totally happy with him, he is a significant part of the group. He has brought in a winning mentality and aggression. He’s someone who pushes the youngsters and supports them positively, but also gives them a hard time. Rasmus is extremely important for us,” he said to Bild.

However, Frankfurt want to sign the player for a cut price deal of £10m instead of the £15m clause in his loan deal.

Kristensen departure is the best for all parties

The defender has spent the last two seasons away from Elland Road and does not look like he wants to be there next year. Leeds should cut their losses and make some money off Kristensen, especially with a big club like Frankfurt interested.
