Leeds United are prepared to spend heavily this summer with the Premier League in sight next season. Club chairman Paraag Marathe echoed this during the title win celebrations.

Daniel Farke had guided his team to a 100 point season and the Championship trophy. Marathe vowed to the fans that he will help the club maintain their top flight status beyond next season:

“Together we are going to build the best squad we can with every penny we are allowed to spend to compete in the Premier League. I’m under no illusions that it’s going to be easy. I know all the stats, that last season’s three promoted clubs went right back down.”

Multiple reports had indicated that Daniel Farke will have in excess of £120million to spend when the window opens.

Despite knowing they have enough resources to make major changes in the squad, Leeds cannot afford to spend recklessly. PSR will continue as the club reaches the Premier League – the Whites have flirted with the regulations over the last year. So everyone around the club knows that some players will need to be moved to balance the books.

Joe Donnohue of the YEP has reported that the most likely players to be sold this summer are Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood and Darko Gyabi. According to the reports, Leeds will be looking for around £3million to £4million for each player. All three have failed to break into the first team in recent years; most of them have spent their time away from the club on loan.

Gelhardt, Greenwood and Gyabi were bought for around £7.5million, with Leeds eyeing £10million from their sales.

Right call from the club

The trio started out a very good prospects, with some having the potential to play in the first team. But it ultimately did not pan out for different reasons. Gelhardt looked like the most likely to break into the starting XI but it did not work out.

Leeds will now make some profit off these players, especially as all three impressed on their loan spells away from Elland Road.
