Leeds United set to make major decision on £10M star – first team place confirmed

Leeds United ended their season the best way possible, by winning the Championship on the final day. Daniel Farke’s men hit the 100-point mark and won promotion. Now the hard work begins as they look forward to next season.

The Premier League is now more difficult than ever for newly promoted sides. The last two seasons has seen all three promoted teams go back down to the Championship. Leeds fans will hope they manage to survive next season. Club chairman Paraag Marathe has also vowed to help the club maintain their top flight status.

Marathe has backed Daniel Farke as his main man, and added that Leeds will spend this summer:

”… we are going to build the best squad we can with every penny we are allowed to spend to compete in the Premier League.”

One of the biggest questions heading into this summer, is if Leeds will get a new goalkeeper. There have also been whispers that a new striker may be added to the team, with recent links to Troy Parrott and Cameron Archer.

Football Insider have now revealed that Leeds United have taken an internal decision over Joel Piroe. The club will not rely on him as their first choice striker for the Premier League.

This heavily implies that there will be a new arrival at the club during the summer window.

Leeds have made the right decision

The club have made the right decision concerning Joel Piroe. They cannot go into the Premier League with him as their first choice striker. There are just too many question marks on his overall game to determine if he can make an impact at a higher level.

You cannot take the fact that he has 73 goals in his last four seasons in the Championship. But sometimes his game leaves a lot to be desired. Especially in the run in this season – he looked a bit out of sorts. Piroe went on a stretch of nine games without a single goal this season.

Leeds’ best bet will be to bring in a new striker as competition for him next season.
