Leeds United have some big decisions to make in the coming weeks as they look to build a squad that can survive in the Premier League next season, and the club are pushing to bring in several fresh faces to bolster their options ahead of the start of the season.

However, Leeds are also mindful that they will need a few sales to make space in their squad and wage bill for new arrivals, and upgrades on certain players can’t be signed as long as they are not moved on in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The Whites are prioritising signing a striker, a midfielder and a goalkeeper in the coming weeks, but they also want to sign a new number 10 to add more goals and creativity to their team ahead of their return to the top flight of English football.

Leeds and Daniel Farke have a big decision to make on certain players in the squad, and one particular star’s place in the squad is under threat if the club sign another attacking midfielder in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Can you name these 10 former Leeds United strikers?

Leeds United tipped to sell Brenden Aaronson this summer

Aaron Brendensen came under criticism last season, but never lost the trust of Daniel Farke as he remained a key part of the team that got Leeds back up to the Premier League.

However, the United States international was woeful in the Premier League previously for Leeds, and there are major concerns about him being too lightweight for the top flight.

Ian Darke conceded that Aaronson looked out of place in the Premier League during his previous stint and believes Leeds should be looking for an upgrade for him.

He admitted that it would not be surprising if Leeds decided to sell the American in the ongoing transfer window.

“I would say so because I think when Leeds went into the Premier League before, he did not come off, he looked a bit lightweight and peripheral, I would say”, Darke told MOT Leeds News.

“In a harsh world, I think they would be looking for an upgrade, so it would not be a surprise if they cashed in on Aaronson and looked for somebody else to fill that role.”

Selling Aaronson will make sense

Aaronson’s physical struggles in the Championship last season were well-documented, and he got exposed the last time he was in the Premier League.

There were no signs last season that the American has improved that area of his game, and he will continue to get physically dominated in the Premier League.

His willingness to work hard and run his socks off for the team is an admirable quality, but his lack of physicality will continue to limit him in the top flight.

Leeds’ interest in Getafe midfielder Christantus Uche is a sign that the club are looking to replace Aaronson, who should be moved on this summer.

that was two seasons ago and he was a better player last season then he was the season before. He is still relatively young and who do we have thats better? we havent got anyone and definitely dont have a strong enough squad. Before we even think of getting rid of players who would be in the team, we need to get decent bodies through the door

Dan James has spent more time at an older age in the Premier League and looked equally out of place playing his prefered position, yet nearly everyone is glad to have him for the next 4 years. Not hating on DJ, but the fact is he hasn’t shown anything in the PL as well.

Of course there are better options at CAM and Leeds should definitely get an upgrade, but Aaronson has now proved he wants to be with Leeds, he has Farke’s trust, he works hard, and he isn’t a cancer in the locker room. He’s on the squad atm so how about supporting him and being fair with the criticism.
