Leeds United had a big transfer window in the summer of 2022 under former coach Jesse Marsch.
After the American saved the club from relegation, he was backed with multiple signings. Leeds spent over €150million on more than nine first team players.
However, most of the deals did not pan out, and Marsch was sacked midway through the season as Leeds were eventually relegated.
Leeds United loanee has a way out of the club
Rasmus Kristensen is currently on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt after he was not in Daniel Farke’s plan this season. The Danish international also went out on loan to Roma last season, where he failed to impress and secure a permanent move.
Just last week, the defender picked up an injury and had to be substituted during the game. Frankfurt youngster Nnamdi Collins replaced Kristensen and made a very good impression. After the game, German media outlets even suggested that Collins take Kristensen’s place in the team permanently.
However Frankfurt are still high on the Leeds loanee and are willing to negotiate for a lower price than the £12million Leeds are reportedly asking for. Ben Jacobs confirmed that the German club would complete a deal for Kristensen as soon as possible if they could:
“Rasmus Kristensen has impressed Frankfurt both on and off the field and it’s a shame he’s picked up a muscle injury and will miss a few weeks.
“Kristensen has proven reliable, and Frankfurt also view him as a positive dressing-room influence. There is a chance they try to sign him permanently, but it’s likely if so they try to negotiate the €15m option to buy.
“We’ll have to wait and see what happens. If Leeds don’t go up, Frankfurt might be able to do a bargain deal but it’s too early to tell right now.”
Club should be eager to get rid of flop
Leeds have found it very difficult to move on some of Victor Orta’s signings that didn’t work out at the club. Just this summer, Max Wöber and Brenden Aaronson could not seal permanent deals away from the club because they failed to impress. Diego Llorente also had to move for €3million after joining the club for €20million in 2020.
Selling Kristensen in January would be ideal; as the funds could be used to sign new players. Leeds United are reportedly targeting a player who helped Southampton gain promotion last year.
