The Premier League is now within touching distance for Leeds United. After Sheffield United slipped up, the Whites are now a step closer to automatic promotion.
With four games to go, Daniel Farke’s men need to win a maximum of nine points to seal the deal. Leeds took a big step on Saturday as they beat Preston at Elland Road. The club’s home form has been huge and is one of the reasons why they are near the top of the league.
Leeds managed to win without Daniel James and Pascal Struijk, who missed the games due to injury.

Saturday’s win against Preston was very revealing. Manor Solomon was the star of the show as he scored and provided an assist in the game. Jayden Bogle scored what was the winner, in the first half.
Leeds had 20 shots in the game, and created five big chances. In the second half they bombarded the visitors but failed to score a goal. Much of that was down to the poor performance of Joel Piroe. The striker missed two big chances, including hitting the woodwork in an awful display. Piroe had seven shots, six of which were off target.

He also won just one of his six duels in the air. Another performance from the striker that Leeds fans will be frustrated with this season.
Joel Piroe is not the striker to lead the club to the Premier League
Let’s be reasonable – Piroe has helped the club a lot this season. He is the team’s top scorer, and his goals have won some games. But overall, he is having a worse season than he did last year. He has four games left to beat his goal tally from last season.

But his negatives have been way too much this season. He currently has one goal since the end of February.
If Leeds are to be promoted to the Premier League, the club need to look past him. Reports linking the Whites to Callum Wilson show that Farke may not be fully behind Joel Piroe as the main striker.

Callum Wilson isn’t the answer either
