Leeds United star described as ‘Championship’ level by manager

Leeds United will be trying to work on arrivals and departures with just days left till the Premier League starts. Daniel Farke has already asked for reinforcements this past week.

Many of the players expected to leave the club, are still under contract. Some are also in the UK playing friendlies with the U21 side. Players like Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph are yet to resolve their futures. So far, the only player that looks close to an exit is Joe Gelhardt. Hull City are keen on signing the forward this summer.

Charlie Crew completes Doncaster move

Leeds United youngster Charlie Crew completed a season-long loan to Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday.

Crew returns to play under Grant McCann, after the youngster featured for the club 13 times towards the end of last season. It was revealed that the midfielder was the number on target for Doncaster this summer.

Charlie Crew gets the opportunity to play a full season and gain valuable first team experience.

Doncaster Rovers boss Grant McCann was very pleased his club was able to get the deal across the line. According to him, Charlie Crew is good enough to play at the Championship level at his young age.

“You saw how important he was for us during the run-in last season,” McCann said. “Charlie can play at this level no problem. He can probably play at the level above at this moment in time.

“I’m pleased he’s here with us and I’m delighted that Leeds have trusted us again with one of their best young players. I’m hoping this loan spell can go well for Charlie.”

Which other youngsters could be sent out on loan?

Harry Gray would be the standout name to be loaned out this summer, but following the developments during trainings camp, he is very much a part of the first team. Daniel Farke is also very high on the youngster.

Sam Chambers is most likely to follow Charlie Crew this summer. An earlier report from the Athletic revealed that this was the plan for  most of the summer. Leeds feel that Crew and Chambers need first team experience at a decent level before assessing their suitability for the first team. Now that Crew has joined Doncaster, Chambers could also find a new home soon.
