Leeds United secured their second straight win after a 2-1 victory over Watford on Tuesday night at Elland Road. One of the marquee players for the victory was Ao Tanaka, who earned unique praise from manager Daniel Farke.

The Whites got off to a fantastic start against the away side, scoring two goals in the first 10 minutes of the contest. Largie Ramazani scored in the fourth minute, and Brenden Aaronson scored in the seventh minute for the lead.

Watford did cut the lead in half with a goal early in the second, but Leeds United held off the Hornets’ attack to secure the 2-1 victory and all three points. The Yorkshire side are now in second place after Tuesday’s results, and if Burnley and Sheffield United lose on Wednesday night, Leeds United will hold onto their current position.

Tanaka played all 90 minutes for Leeds United, recording 77 touches, one key pass, completing 57 of 61 passes, and registering an 83 percent completion percentage. The Japan international also won nine of 11 ground duels while recording six tackles, per SofaScore.

It’s this production that manager Daniel Farke used a James Bond reference when describing the midfielder’s performance against Watford.

“He’s James Bond, so it was unbelievable,” Farke told the media after the win over Watford. “I think he saved the world today. There was an outstanding performance, his calmness on the ball, but also his steal. Although we had to carry on with the yellow cards, and then in the crucial and decisive duels was outstanding.

“He definitely was not the villain today. Today, he was definitely James Bond for us. I’m pretty happy with him, and he can’t keep going like this to deliver such performances.”

Leeds United will look to make it three straight wins when they travel to Ashton Gate Stadium to face Bristol City FC, who are currently ninth in the Championship table. Moreover, the Robins are coming off a 2-2 draw against Stoke City, so after two impressive home wins, Farke and his team will have to carry this form on the road as they look to maintain their status atop the table in this tight race.
