Leeds United brought in 10 new signings in the transfer window, but fans expected more before the deadline. The club spent the earlier part of the window focusing on other areas of the squad.

The Whites spent around £98million, with most of it focused on the defence and midfield. Now, Leeds have enough quality in those areas this season. However, the attack was the major problem. Daniel Farke asked for reinforcements since pre-season, and the club only gave him three players. Lukas Nmecha, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor.

With 10 new arrivals, the competition in the team has been really intense. Since pre-season the battle for positions has grown into the new campaign. Some of the new signings only got the chance to play during the EFL cup loss to Sheffield Wednesday.

This season will surely see a battle for places in attack; especially up top with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Lukas Nmecha and Joel Piroe. And out wide, the likes of Jack Harrison, Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto have intense competition.

Gnonto was speaking in an interview on BBC Radio Leeds on how he is managing the arrival of new players in his position. The Italian is expected to battle it out with Noah Okafor, who was signed from AC Milan and comes with Champions League experience.

“Obviously when you play in the Premier League you are going to have competition,” he told BBC Radio Leeds. “You have good players and you can’t do anything to stop this.

“I’m quite focused on myself and am sure of my abilities. I’m just happy for him. I know he’s a good player.”

The winger also spoke on the strenght of the team this season.

“We’re stronger. We’ve had a little time to work on our tactics and get to know each other a bit more. I feel like we can just get better from now,” he added.

“Every position is better, to be fair. We’ve improved at the back and in midfield. You’ve just talked about Noah but we have Dom [Calvert-Lewin], Lukas [Nmecha] and so many players up front as well, plus Jack [Harrison] coming back.”
