Leeds United star Max Wober is struggling with knee problems, which forced him to miss Austria’s 2-1 defeat against Norway on Monday night.
The 26-year-old centre-back was struggling with a calf injury but still played the full 90 minutes against Slovenia for Austria last week.
However, he remained an unused substitute in their defeat against Norway on Monday night and it has emerged that he is struggling with a different injury.
The defender has not played a Championship game for Leeds at the start of the campaign but has been willing to remain patient to get his chance in the starting eleven this season.
However, he could be in for a longer wait as he is currently struggling with physical issues, which flared up during the international break.
The Leeds United star is struggling with knee problems
According to Austrian daily Kronen Zeitung, the defender didn’t get on against Norway because he is struggling with ‘knee problems’ at the moment.
The centre-back has 28 caps for Austria and has been a key player for Ralf Ragnick’s side despite struggling to get into the Leeds team this season.
He is set to return to Leeds this week ahead of their Championship clash against Burnley at Elland Road on Saturday.
Leeds will take a look at the defender’s injury and assess whether he will be fit to be in the squad for the game against the Clarets.
Wober is keen to get back into the ‘best team’ of the Championship
The Austrian recently insisted that he is ready to wait for his chance and admitted that he is not surprised that Daniel Farke is unwilling to change his team at this stage of the season.
He was happy to stay at Leeds despite suggestions that the defender could leave and Wober stressed that the Whites are the best team on paper in the Championship this season.
