Leeds United star tipped to leave

Leeds United could suffer a huge a shock in the coming weeks as one of the first team players is set to leave the club.

The Whites have been in fine form since returning from the international break. It has been two wins in the last two, but the difficulty of both games has been quite different. Leeds went to the Swansea stadium last Sunday; the Swans took the lead just 10 minutes into the game. They made it 2-1 before halftime, which set some alarm bells off. It took an own goal early in the second half, and goals from Manor Solomon and Wilfried Gnonto to win the game at the death.

Wednesday night’s win against Luton Town was much more relaxed as Leeds had the game wrapped up as early as the second half. Dan James came off the bench to put the icing on the cake in a comfortable 3-0 win.

Leeds United star could leave

Leeds sit at the top of the Championship going into the December schedule. Daniel Farke has already pushed for signings in January, but it seems like he may actually lose a player. Junior Firpo’s contract expires in 2025, and the defender has made it clear that he could leave Elland Road. But, former Leeds man Carlton Palmer believes Firpo could leave as early as in January.

“The issue that Leeds United have is Junior Firpo’s contract is up at the end of the season. He’s been outstanding for Leeds United again in the Championship, but he struggled in the Premier League.

“So, on that basis, you wouldn’t have thought that Leeds United would be rushing to offer him a contract. He’s believed to be on really good money, so you wouldn’t see Leeds rushing to offer a new contract.

“Especially, when they’re looking to get back to the Premier League, so the likelihood is perhaps that Junior Firpo will leave the club in the January transfer window.”

Should Leeds move on from Firpo in January?

Regardless of what happens between now and the new year, Leeds are set to make a loss on a player they signed for €15million. But if they can find a buyer, it means they will not lose the player for free, especially in a window where Leeds are looking for a young, long-term option at left back.
