After an up and down start to the season, following a summer where Leeds United saw some key men leave the club, Daniel Farke’s men are building the positivity back around the club once again.
They have shaken that sluggish start off and are well in the hunt for automatic promotion to the Premier League at this early stage of the season. Last time out, they knocked off Sheffield United ending their unbeaten run and prompting Chris Wilder, who had formerly branded Leeds as muppets, concede that Leeds United are the best side his team have faced so far this season.
But not everything can be perfect for everyone in a squad of players and there is one Leeds United star who “wants to leave” according to some.
Leeds United star “wants to leave” claims former Manchester United scout
Former Man United, Sunderland, and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown spoke with Football Insider about one Leeds United star in particular whose future is uncertain at the minute.
That of course is number nine Patrick Bamford. The striker who helped Leeds United return to the Premier League for the first time since 2004 during the 2019/20 season and helped they stay there for a short period before relegation back to the Championship, has been subjectt to plenty of speculation in recent times and now Brown has claimed the forward is looking to leave Elland Road.
“I’ve heard he wants to leave,” Brown told Football Insider. “He’s been there for a while now so a change of location might be tempting him to move and, if he’s not playing regularly, I can see him looking for a way out.
“Being on the bench every week will be frustrating for him because he’ll be used to being a regular starter in that team. I can see Leeds being keen to move him on as well, because his record isn’t very good. He’s had injuries in the last couple of years as well. Leeds want to get promotion and they want to be a Premier League side. He doesn’t fit that bill because he’s been there before and not done it.”
Former Liverpool forward linked with Elland Road switch
Despite this news, Leeds United have been linked with another attacking whose arrival would ameliorate the impact of losing Bamford any time soon.
That is former Rangers and Liverpool forward Ryan Kent who has been linked with a move to Elland Road on multiple occasions and now The Sun have reported that Leeds United are one of the potential suitors interested in a move for the man who was once highly praised by Jurgen Klopp.
Leeds have also been linked with another of Klopp’s kids which you can read about here.
