Leeds United step up talks for 23-year-old striker – January transfer now in play

Leeds United are almost certain to look for a new striker in the January transfer window to solve their goalscoring woes in the second half of the season.

Daniel Farke is under real pressure after his side lost four of their last five Premier League games, and are struggling to score the goals needed to give their fans any confidence of staying up in the top flight this season.

The Leeds boss is likely to lose his job if the results do not improve in the next four games, but it is important to remember that Farke wanted two more attackers last summer, and the Whites badly messed up their shopping for a striker.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha have not looked the business in the Premier League this season, and it seems increasingly likely that the club will be in the market for a striker in January, regardless of who is in charge.

Leeds learn price for striker target ahead of the January transfer window

Leeds have been assessing several strikers. However, some of their targets, such as Ivan Toney, are unattainable or are not interested in a move to Elland Road in January.

The Whites are keeping tabs on a few names, and their association with Red Bull gives them an edge in terms of having information on young strikers across Europe.

FC Midtjylland forward Franculino Dju is one of the names who have popped up on Leeds’ radar ahead of the January transfer window, with his goal-scoring ability.

He has 14 goals in as many appearances in the Danish top flight this season and has netted 19 times in all competitions.

The Danish giants were rating him at around £18m a few months back. However, the price has more than doubled, and according to Africa Foot, Midtjylland now want £40m from his sale.

The growing interest in Franculino, coupled with his goalscoring spree this season, has led to the Danish giants demanding a big fee for his sale ahead of the winter window.

Leeds are in talks for one more striker

The Whites are in talks for the signature of AZ Alkmaar striker Troy Parrott. The former Tottenham striker is said to be keen on returning to England.

He has rekindled his career in the Netherlands, and his goals are also powering Ireland towards an improbable World Cup qualification this season.

According to De Telegraaf, AZ want a club-record fee of more than £26m before agreeing to sell the striker in the winter transfer window.

Leeds believe the Dutch club are asking for too much money. However, they have continued to remain in discussions to sign the former Spurs striker in January.

The Whites will have to dig deep into their pockets to either sign Franculino or Parrott in the winter window if their respective clubs agree to lower their fee.

The former Spurs striker may be more proven than Franculino and could be available for far less money in January.

Leeds have decisions to make on who they should be signing to lead their line in January, and this could make or break their season in the Premier League.
