Leeds United striker Mateo Joseph has continued to excel with the Spain U21s

Just a week ago, Leeds United striker Mateo Joseph was selected for Spain’s U21 squad for this October international break. With the final whistle for the match against Kazakhstan blown, head coach Santi Denia won’t be disappointed in this decision.

Joseph scored a marvellous hat-trick for the Spanish U21s leading the comeback when they were down one goal. The match took place at the Estadio Municipal de La LĆ­nea de la ConcepciĆ³n and was a 2025 U21 UEFA Euro qualifier.

La Rojita won the match 4-3 on home soil as Mateo bagged a hat-trick in under 30 minutes. The Spaniard also managed to achieve this before the end of the first half.

Kazakhstan U21s Galymzhan Kenzhebek drew first blood as the visitors took a one-goal lead in CĆ”diz. This was followed by Mateo Joseph’s first goal as teammate BeƱat Turrientes took the lead with the second goal against The Young Hawks.

The two goals by Mateo followed which made the score 4-1. However, Kazakhstan refused to give up as Kenzhebek came back with an answer in the 67th minute making it 4-2.

The game ended on a narrow note with the home side winning on a one-goal lead. The away side’s Dannil Ankudinov closed the scoring with the last goal of the match in the 76th minute.

Although Spain has already qualified for the U21 Euros next year, the last two matches will prove to be more of a player deciders for Santi Denia.

With impeccable performances for the national side, Mateo Joesph is expected to be at the helm of Denia’s squad. The Leeds striker is expected to don the La Rojita shirt next year at the U21 Euros if he stays fit and continues his current form.

There is another match to go to end Spain’s UEFA U21 Euros qualifier campaign. La Rojita will continue their journey next year directly in the Championship after this last match against Malta U21.

The game is scheduled to take place on October 15th at home. Algeciras’ Estadio Nuevo Mirador will host Spain’s last qualifier for the competition.

Joseph although in fine form should also see to the fact that he continues this at Elland Road. He should also make sure that he comes back unscathed for The Championship.

Fans will hope that Joseph continues this form at Elland Road. Mateo has already surpassed expectations with his national side and hopes to achieve the same with Leeds United.
