Leeds United striker Joel Piroe says he watches Manchester City’s Erling Haaland to improve his own game.
The summer signings has had a great start to Elland Road – he has scored five goals in the league this season. The Dutchman’s strike partnership with Georginio Rutter has transformed Leeds’ attack this campaign. Piroe joined Leeds from Swansea after scoring 19 goals in the Championship last season.
In an interview with Sky Sports, the 24-year old says he’s a big fan of Man City striker Erling Haaland:
“I love to watch big Premier League and Champions League games, and I like to see how Haaland and Alvarez work. There are some similarities. You see the runs Haaland makes, that’s something we can add to our game. It’s about making sure we have all the positions covered, so we can be even more effective than we are now.”
“I also like to watch guys who play in a deeper role like Martin Odegaard at Arsenal. It is good to analyse and see what they do in their positions as more of a second striker, to see when you want to be a midfielder, and when to play like a striker at the right moments.”
The Whites are away to Stoke City on Wednesday night as they look to move closer to the top of the table. Leeds currently sit in third place.
