‘Leeds United surprised me!’ – BBC pundit blown away by Daniel Farke’s stunning side

Leeds United have defied some of the early expectations at the start of the season. They have looked better than promoted sides of recent years, and seem far more solid and competitive compared to a few flaky teams from recent years.

Seven points from their opening five Premier League games mean Leeds have made a solid start to life back in the Premier League, and are sitting just below the top half of the early league table.

They have won two, drawn one and lost two of their opening league games and have looked competitive against most of the teams, barring the 5-0 defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last month.

Daniel Farke has already made one pundit eat humble pie, and while the naysayers remain, the Whites are being backed to survive in the top flight at the end of the season based on some early evidence.

Chris Sutton provides his honest assessment of Leeds United

Chris Sutton predicted Wolves to beat Leeds last weekend, but he was proven wrong, and the former striker admitted that the Whites have been the surprise package of the season.

He was blown away by the performance Leeds produced and admitted that the result showed the quality and the determination of the Whites team under Farke this season.

Sutton admitted that he is now expecting Leeds to give it a real go this season and be a strong candidate to survive in the Premier League.

“I was very impressed by Leeds’ win over Wolves last time out”, Sutton said on BBC Sport.

“It really surprised me, but it was a brilliant result that showed what they have got to offer under Daniel Farke, and that they are going to give it a real go this season.”

However, he expects Leeds to lose at home this weekend

While Sutton is impressed by what he has seen from Leeds this season, he is still expecting Bournemouth to beat the Whites at Elland Road on Saturday.

He is expecting the Cherries to get over their flat performance against Newcastle and create the chances needed to get the three points from their away trip this weekend.

“Even so, I am backing Bournemouth here”, Sutton added.

“The Cherries were a bit flat against Newcastle last week, but they usually create loads of chances, and that’s what I am expecting them to do at Elland Road. 1-2.”

Leeds are on a 22-game unbeaten run at home, and have looked very solid at Elland Road this season.
