Leeds United are ready to bring in attacking reinforcements in the January transfer window to boost their chances of Premier League survival this season.
A win against Chelsea and a 3-3 draw against Liverpool lifted Leeds out of the relegation zone. They now sit 16th in the Premier League table after a couple of good results.
However, Daniel Farke is aware that he needs help in the January transfer window to sustain Leeds’ results and pick up enough points to ensure Premier League survival this season.
The Leeds boss is keen to bring in a winger and an attacking midfielder. However, a shift to a 5-3-2 formation has also increased the need for one more striker in the squad.
Leeds United tipped to sign Ayase Ueda in January
The Japanese striker has been making waves in Dutch football this season, scoring 18 goals in 15 Eredivisie appearances for Feyenoord.
Robin van Persie, the head coach of Feyenoord, absolutely adores Ueda and is ambitious enough to want to hold on to the striker in the winter window.
| Competition | Matches | Goals | Assists |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eredivisie | 15 | 18 | 1 |
| Europa League | 5 | 1 | 0 |
| Champions League Qualifiers | 2 | 0 | 0 |
| Total | 22 | 19 | 1 |
However, European football expert Andy Brassell believes the Japanese could be on his way to the Premier League if a club are prepared to tempt Feyenoord in January.
He believes the Japanese is perfect for Leeds United because of his versatility and could add something different to Daniel Farke’s squad in the future.
Brassell said on talkSPORT: “I wonder if a bottom-half Premier League team has a dart for him next summer or maybe even as early as January, depending on where they’re at.
“He’s kind of got Leeds written all over him. There’s a lot to like about them, but where are the guys putting it in the back of the net?
“There are big question marks over the sustainability over the period of a season for both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha.
“If you’re Feyenoord and a Premier League club come in with a proper offer, I think it’s quite hard to say no.
“However ambitious Robin van Persie is, I think a big offer tempts you.”
He is one of Europe’s most in-form strikers this season
Leeds need a forward who can come in and start scoring goals in the Premier League if they sign a striker in the January transfer window.
Ueda is one of the most in-form strikers in European football at the moment, who is even outscoring Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe in league football.
Eredivisie may not be one of Europe’s top five leagues, but it is still a very decent level, and Ueda has 18 goals in 15 league appearances this season.
Troy Parrott, who is also on Leeds’ radar, plays in the same league and has only managed eight goals in the Eredivisie this season.
The 27-year-old striker seems primed for a move away from the Netherlands, and is a gamble worth taking for Leeds in the winter transfer window.
