Another player from Jesse Marsch’s time at Leeds United could be on the chopping block.
The American coach was in charge at Elland Road for close to a year before he was sacked in February 2023. After keeping Leeds in the Premier League at the end of the 2021/22 campaign, the former RB Leipzig coach was given significant backing in the summer.
Leeds chose to sign a lot of former Red Bull players, including Tyler Adams, Max Wober, Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen. However the success rate on these deals was very low. Most players signed that summer have left the club, and the others are also on their way out.
Adams was sold last year, and Rasmus Kristensen could sign for this Bundesliga club soon. Brenden Aaronson has managed to turn his career around under Daniel Farke this season.
Leeds United could sell star defender
One of Jesse Marsch’s signings in the summer of 2022 was Maximillian Wober, who joined from Red Bull Salzburg for around €11million.
Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk have been Daniel Farke’s first choice defensive partnership this season. The duo have played all 15 games in the championship this season, continuing on the back of their impressive performances last season.
Leeds United have the third best defensive record in the championship, having conceded just nine goals. Max Wober has made one appearance since August and has been struggling with injury. The defender, alongside teammate Ao Tanaka, has been called up for international duty for their respective countries.
Now, the defender has been tipped to leave Leeds United after his place in the team has come under scrutiny. Wöber has been out injured and if he returns he will be behind two very good players. The Austrian failed to seal a permanent move this summer, but could be set for a move in January.
Should Max Wober leave the club?
The Austrian has barely featured this season and has been out with injury. Wöber has been impressive for the club when he has played. He recently revealed that he never wanted to leave the club in an interview with Sky Sports Austria.
His status at the club is currently up in the air, but whatever Leeds decides to do with the player should be a good choice.
Keeping Wober would be a huge boost for the squad, he would be the ideal backup to Rodon and Struijk as the only other natural center back at the club.
If Leeds decide to sell, they would make some good money off Wober, who impressed on loan in the Bundesliga last season. However considering Daniel Farke’s concerns with the squad size, a lot of signs point to Max Wober staying at Leeds United.
