We are a couple of months away from the summer transfer window, but Leeds United already have their plans laid out.
After seeing the events of this season, the club will go into the upcoming window prepared. This season was an unusual one for Daniel Farke. The squad was depleted last summer after Leeds failed to win promotion to the Premier League. The play-off final loss to Southampton set a key chain of events. Farke ended up losing Archie Gray, Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville among others.
Leeds experienced several unfortunate injuries this season, including losing their first choice midfield pairing for over three months. Farke will surely have learned from these events, and could opt for a bigger squad next season.

The question of where Leeds will be next season is yet to be answered. Daniel Farke’s men are just five games away from promotion to the Premier League. However, they will have to be wary in these last few games. Leeds are still level on points with Burnley and are two points above Sheffield United. With only two automatic promotion places, no team can afford to drop points.
Leeds United have a crucial game against Preston this weekend. Burnley boss Scott Parker has accused the Whites of benefiting from the fixture schedule.
Regardless of where Leeds end up next season, one thing is certain – a key area of the squad will be improved. Football Insider has revealed that the Whites will be in the market for a new striker this summer. It might be the second piece of business completed, after Leeds move on from Illan Meslier when the window opens.
Do Leeds need a new striker?
Joel Piroe has had a slight drop off from last season. Even though he is on track to beat the 15 goals he scored in the league last season, his attacking metrics have dropped according to Sofascore. Last year, Piroe had better Expected Goals (xG), Shots on target and Goals per game.

Aside Piroe, Leeds’ depth at the position is very week. Since losing Georginio Rutter, there is not really any player in the squad who can produce the numbers. And if the club do end up making the Premier League, Joel Piroe might not be cut out for that level.
