Leeds United could find themselves in a precarious position as the situation with a January transfer target has changed.
Daniel Farke has been pushing for reinforcements behind the scenes this season as the Leeds squad quickly depleted in the early stages of the campaign.
The club lost Ethan Ampadu and Illia Gruev to long term injuries; Ampadu recently started working on grass, but Gruev is set to be out for the rest of the year. Star defender Max Wober only recently recovered from a knee problem and could return after the international break. Largie Ramazani is also expected to be out for an extended period.
Leeds find themselves in the promotion race early in the campaign; the Whites sit in third place in the Championship, two points behind Sheffield United and Sunderland. Daniel Farke will reportedly be looking at every position in the upcoming window, but Patrick Bamford will remain at the club beyond January.

Leeds United to rival Chelsea in race for English star

Leeds have been linked to English fullback Archie Brown; and now Chelsea have reportedly joined the race to sign the Gent player. Brown has been making waves in Belgium since deciding to leave England back in 2021.
The 22-year old left back is highly rated, he received his first call up for England U20 in June and scored his first goal for them a week later.
Brown has always been ambitious, and has admitted that he would be up for a return to England to play at the highest level:
“Not to sound generic, but I just want to be the version of myself as I can – if I can continue to be a student of the game, respect the game and try to reach the highest level I can possible, we’ll see where that takes me,” Brown said.
“It might take me back to England and the Premier League, but it may take me somewhere in Europe. My aspiration is to play at the highest level possible, to play in the Champions League and compete for league titles.
“I know I have the ability, I know what’s going on inside my mind – I just need to keep respecting the game and see where takes me.”
Will Archie Brown choose to come to Elland Road?
Competing with a Premier League club over an English star is not straightforward. But when it comes to Archie Brown and a possible move to Leeds, there is hope.
Chelsea are still buying young players for the future, which has left many players on the bench or leaving on loan. Leeds United would present a more direct route to the first team, and with how good the club have been under Daniel Farke, Premier League football is not far away.
