Leeds United to consider signing Sunderland striker if promoted – He would be a great addition

Leeds United are taking giant strides towards booking their ticket to the Premier League for next season. They sit at the summit of the Championship table and have a seven-point buffer over teams outside the promotion spots. The Whites are now being touted to win the league this season and are regarded as the best team in the second tier of English football. Promotion talk has led to speculation over their summer business and Leeds are almost certain to add strength to their forward line in the next transfer window. They have already been linked with several strikers and Leeds are now believed to be looking at a forward who recently tormented their defence.

The Yorkshire giants are preparing for a big game on Monday night when they will visit Bramall Lane to take on Sheffield United in a top-of-the-table clash in the Championship.

Farke has been trying hard to keep his players focused and grounded amidst all the promotion talk but even he has acknowledged that their goal is in sight after the win over Sunderland this week.

The Leeds boss believes 20 more points from the last 13 league games will get them promoted to the Premier League and the speculation over their transfer business will only reach fever pitch in the coming months.

However, Leeds are looking at attackers who can bolster their goalscoring options and provide them the firepower needed to survive in the Premier League.

Callum Wilson, Cameron Archer and Josh Sargent have all been linked with a move to Leeds and it has been claimed that the club are now eyeing one more Championship striker

Leeds United shortlisted Wilson Isidor for the summer window

Wilson Isidor has been in terrific form for Sunderland this season and has scored 12 times in the Championship, including four goals in his last five appearances.

The forward bullied Leeds captain Ethan Ampadu at Elland Road on Monday night to give Sunderland the lead. While the Whites went on to win the game, the Sunderland hitman caught the eye of many fans as well as the decision-makers at Leeds.

Leeds are looking to sign a number 9 next season in anticipation of Premier League football and want a more physically robust striker leading them in the top flight.

According to TEAMTalk, Isidor’s name has been added to the shortlist of forwards Leeds are keeping tabs on ahead of the summer transfer window.

His form has been noted and his performance at Elland Road has impressed many at Leeds who are holding recruitment meetings behind the scenes.

Sunderland are also in the race for promotion and if they go up, it would be extremely complicated to snare Isidor away from the Stadium of Light in the summer.

He has more than three years left on his contract and Leeds are only likely to sign him if Sunderland fail to get promoted to the Premier League.

Isidor has the physical attributes to do well in the Premier League

Joel Piroe is in the race to win the Championship’s Golden Boot this season and his form has picked up in the last few weeks after a brief poor run.

However, there remain question marks over whether the Dutchman has the game to excel in the intensity of the Premier League if Leeds go up.

Leeds need proven goalscorers in the Premier League and that has led to claims of the club looking at forwards who have some track record in the top flight.

Isidor is unproven at that top level and while he has done well in the Championship, it is no guarantee that he would be able to cut it in the top flight of English football.

However, the Frenchman has the physicality to deal with the intensity of the Premier League and the way he bullied Ampadu on Monday night was good to see if you are not a Leeds fan.

It’d depend on the kind of money Sunderland would demand for the striker if they don’t get promoted to the Premier League. Leeds would not want to blow a lot of money on a striker who will have to prove himself in the top flight.
