Leeds United have done brilliantly to strengthen the squad this summer, following earning promotion to the Premier League last season. The club have plans to bring in more fresh faces in the ongoing window, but they are also preparing to finalise the exit of a few players from the squad in the coming weeks.
Daniel Farke and Leeds’ sporting director, Adam Underwood, have followed a meticulous plan to strengthen the squad this summer. The club are pushing to bring in more new faces in the coming weeks, and plans are in place to address the few areas of their squad that still need their attention.
Leeds have added players to bring in more depth and experience in their defence and midfield, and Lucas Perri joined the club on Saturday evening as the club’s most expensive goalkeeper.
The Whites are set to turn their focus towards adding more goals and creativity to their team in the coming weeks, but Leeds are also mindful of the players they need to offload before the end of the transfer window.
Can you name the team Leeds United signed these players from in the 2000s?

Leeds United has taken the final decision to sell Illan Meslier following Lucas Perri’s arrival

Illan Meslier has been involved in Leeds’ pre-season games thus far and has looked comfortable around the squad since returning to training this month.
However, since he was dropped from the team towards the end of last season, it has been clear that the clock is ticking on the Frenchman’s time at Elland Road.
Leeds spent a club-record fee on a goalkeeper to sign Perri, and the Brazilian is certain to be the number one at Elland Road next season.
According to the Daily Mail, Meslier is almost certain to be moved on if a club table an offer for the Leeds United goalkeeper in the coming weeks.
Perri’s arrival has sealed the deal, and Leeds are waiting for offers to land on their desk for the French goalkeeper this summer.
Meslier has suitors on the continent, but the goalkeeper could still stay in England as Leicester City are interested in signing him in the ongoing transfer window.
Karl Darlow will likely be the number 2 next season
Meslier’s fate was more or less sealed when Daniel Farke decided to finally wield the axe and drop him from the team during the promotion run-in last season.
Signing a new number one was the priority, and in Perri, Leeds believe they have brought in a massive upgrade on the Frenchman.
The 25-year-old was never going to settle for being the back-up goalkeeper in the Premier League, and a transfer is now the likeliest outcome.
Darlow seems content to be the number 2 behind Perri and will resume his duties of being the back-up goalkeeper at Elland Road next season.
Keep all four keepers, roles can be found for them in helping with day to day coaching and playing cup matches and providing rest from playing in internationals. Then at the end of the next season re-evaluate the situation. No dis-respect to K Darlow but I think he could perform worse than Mesiler in the premier league. It is a different back four than Mesiler did last time in the premier league.
