Leeds United are just hours away from kicking off their Premier League campaign. They are set to host Everton at Elland Road tonight, but the club are worried about losing out on one of their top targets towards the end of the summer transfer window.

The Whites are focused on strengthening their attack as we move closer to the summer transfer deadline. They snapped up Dominic Calver-Lewin on a free transfer, and the former Everton striker was registered in time to be eligible to play against his former side tonight at Elland Road.

Leeds are also in advanced negotiations to sign AC Milan winger Noah Okafor. It has emerged that the club have tabled a £17m bid for the Switzerland international, and are confident of securing his signature before the September 1st transfer deadline.

The Whites are keen to sign an attacking midfielder as well. However, the club are pushing to bring in one more full-back before the end of the window as Isaac Schmidt wants to join Werder Bremen on loan.

Can you name these 10 former Leeds United defenders?

Leeds United are waiting for clarification on James Justin’s injury

Leeds have been in advanced negotiations with Leicester over a deal to sign the 27-year-old full-back before the end of the transfer window.

Justin had given his consent to the move, and Leeds were working on a deal that would have seen them pay a fee of £6m to Leicester for him this summer.

However, the defender picked up an injury in Leicester’s 2-1 defeat at Preston, and there is no news on the seriousness of the injury.

According to Sky Sports News, Leeds’ pursuit of the defender is in doubt due to the injury he picked up over the weekend.

The Whites are awaiting clarification from Leicester on the severity of the injury before deciding whether to move forward with the deal.

Leeds have lined up other targets, and are prepared to trigger deals for alternatives if Justin is not fit to complete the transfer before the September 1st deadline.

Leeds need to sign a full-back

The Whites lack quality in the full-back areas beyond Gabriel Gudmundsson and Jayden Bogle, and they look short in that department.

Bogle’s injury means Farke will be picking either Isaac Schmidt or Sam Byram at right-back, and neither is seen as good enough to start Premier League games.

Justin is considered a top full-back who can play on either side of the defence, is available for a reasonable fee and has Premier League experience.

His injury is threatening to scupper Leeds’ plans as they look to secure multiple deals for players towards the end of the summer transfer window.
