Leeds United transfer in serious doubt following major change – deal hanging in the balance

With the summer window coming up, Leeds United will need to decide the futures of some of their players. Daniel Farke and the recruitment team have to assess the squad to make these decisions.

Leeds will reportedly have £150million to spend in the transfer window, after club chairman Paraag Marathe promised the fans. Finding quality this summer will be no easy feat, but Farke has shown he has an eye for talent sometimes. Despite how much money the club can spend, they will also have to balance the books to avoid PSR sanctions.

There are some players at Elland Road that could leave over the next few months.

Three players look most certain to leave next month. Junior Firpo, Josuha Guilavogui and Sam Byram are all out of contract next month. And there is no news that hints at any contract renewals. Especially with reports that Firpo is off to Spain.

Illan Meslier is also one of the leading candidates to exit when the summer comes around, after the events near the end of the season.

Joe Gelhardt looked set on a move to Hull City next season, as the club were keen on another loan or permanent deal. Tigers boss Ruben Selles had high praise for the forward. But now, it looks like the deal is in major doubt after the Spaniard was sacked this evening.

Gelhardt had five goals in 22 appearances and was a big part in Hull City’s survival. A managerial change could now scupper any plans of a move for the 23-year old.

What next for Joe Gelhardt?

If Hull City do not push for a move for the forward, he could be stuck at Elland Road for another season. And from this year, it looks clear that Daniel Farke is not really a fan of the player.

Gelhardt will have to hope his performances on loan were good enough to catch the eye of another championship club he can be a starter at. Leeds can still get some value of the 23-year old with two years left on his deal.
