Leeds United have some big decisions to make in the transfer market this summer. Building a team to compete in the Premier League has become increasingly difficult each year.
Outside the fact that that gap in quality continues to grow between established teams and newly promoted sides, the transfer market is tougher to navigate. Now, the new teams will need to pay above normal rates if they want to sign players from the Premier League or the Championship.
Ipswich Town did a lot of shopping between the division, spending close to £100million and still got relegated. According to Leeds club chairman Paraag Marathe, the leadership will do everything possible to maintain their top flight status. Reports from last week indicate that Daniel Farke could have around £150million to spend when the window opens.

From reports last month, it is clear Daniel Farke wants some presence in midfield heading into the Premier League. Leeds were linked with West Ham’s Tomas Soucek, and Newcastle United’s Sean Longstaff.
Longstaff’s future at St. James’ Park was discussed by Eddie Howe this week. The Magpies boss said that any decision in the future will lie in the player’s hands:
“He has been brilliant behind the scenes, he is training well and he’s got undoubted qualities. He also has a contract for next year.”
“The control is very much in his hands as to what he wants to do for his long-term future. We are delighted to have him.”
Now, TEAMtalk are reporting that Manchester United and Everton have joined the race for the 27-year old. The Toffees see Longstaff as a good addition to their team for next season. Newcastle will demand around £12million.
Leeds need to move for Sean Longstaff now
With the midfielder drawing interest, the time for Leeds to move for him is now. He has already mentioned that he wants to play more first team football. This season, his playing time has drastically reduced – he has started eight games in this campaign.
Sean Longstaff will probably get more game time at Leeds United, he would provide some experience and solidity in the middle of the park. A very good depth option.
