Leeds United transfers: Defender joins surprise new club

Leeds United transfers have been a hot topic over the last few days and weeks whether it’s talk of the instant signing of free agents, January transfers to bolster the promotion push or other Leeds United transfers, the stories never seem to end.

Leeds have seemingly been given the green light to snap up a free agent to end their midfield struggles which has left them with only Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell in the middle of the park. Daniel Farke’s men have been linked with a move for French international and Bundesliga star Joshua Guilavogui as an instant fix to their midfield problems.

On the topic of Leeds United transfers, Leeds have also been linked with young midfielders from top tier Premier League clubs including Liverpool Ace Tyler Morton.

But the stories keep coming with a former Leeds United defender completing a move to a surprise new club.

Leeds United transfers: Barry Douglas finds new club

Former Leeds United, Wolves and Blackburn Rovers defender Barry Douglas has finally found a new club after being a free agent since the end of last season. In 2023/24, Douglas plied his trade in Poland for Poznan but now the Scottish international is headed home in a manner of speaking as he makes the move to the Scottish Premier League and more specifically Perth.

Douglas has joined St Johnstone in a deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the season, though the transfer needs to be ratified by the Scottish FA before Douglas can star for his new club and continue his career.

The 35-year-old said of the move: “It’s an exciting time. I am looking forward to the opportunity to come in and try and help the guys develop.

Speaking of the SPL, a former Rangers forward has also been linked with a move to Elland Road. That of course is Ryan Kent who has previously been  subject to interest from Leeds.

The former Liverpool forward starred in the Champions League for Rangers in 2022/23 including a clash with his former club Liverpool, and now a new report claims that Leeds United are one of many clubs interested in Kent.

This comes as it is widely expected that Patrick Bamford could leave sooner rather than later, with sources claiming that he “wants to leave” the West Yorkshire club.
