Leeds United want 57-goal Premier League star in massive January move

Leeds United are in the market for players in the January transfer window and are looking at several options as they push to identify targets for the squad.

Daniel Farke may not survive at Leeds long enough to see the Janaury transfer window. However, regardless of who is the manager at Elland Road, the squad need reinforcements.

The Leeds squad look short of quality at the moment, and they are unlikely to survive in the Premier League if the club do not add fresh faces to the line-up in January.

Leeds are in the market for attacking reinforcements. However, they are also looking to bring in real Premier League experience, which could become a necessity if they want to avoid relegation.

Leeds United are in the mix for James Ward-Prowse in the January window

Ward-Prowse is a fringe player in the West Ham squad, and the 31-year-old is likely to be moved on in the winter transfer window.

ExWHUEmployee reported on his website that Leeds are among the several Premier League clubs who are interested in signing the player in January.

Leeds have enough midfield options, but it appears the decision makers are aware that they need Premier League experience in their squad for the latter half of the season.

Ward-Prowse has made more than 400 appearances in the English top flight, and his set-piece delivery would also come in handy for a team that has tall physical players.

Assists 47

Leeds are in the frame to sign Ward-Prowse. However, Everton and Burnley are also among the clubs that are interested in getting their hands on him.

Southampton are also looking to take the former Saint back to the club to boost their promotion hopes this season.

He has a contract until 2027 with the Hammers, but West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo doesn’t fancy him, which is likely to confirm his departure in January.

Do Leeds need him?

Ward-Prowse is an experienced Premier League campaigner who’d add much-needed nous to the Leeds dressing room if he joins the club.

However, it is hard to see how he fits into the eleven if Sean Longstaff, Anton Stach, Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka are all fit to play.

The 31-year-old may be a good option from the bench when Leeds need some experience on the pitch, and his set-piece delivery would be a valuable addition.

However, any move for him would only make sense if Leeds could sign him on a loan deal until the end of the season, as he would not be going straight into the starting eleven.

Leeds should focus on signing forwards before they consider options to bring in a player such as Ward-Prowse in the winter transfer window.
