It is near the halfway mark of the season, and it is quite obvious that Leeds United, West Ham, Burnley and Nottingham Forest will be in the relegation battle. The Whites only recently started picking up important points from games.
They are one of the top five teams in the league with the longest active unbeaten streaks so far. Daniel Farke has seen his side go four games without a defeat, beating Chelsea and holding Liverpool to a draw. The Whites even picked up their first away point since beating Wolves in September. This Saturday saw them deliver a brutal hammering to Crystal Palace at Elland Road.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored a brace, as Ethan Ampadu and Anton Stach found themselves on the scoresheet. It was a statement win that put the whole of the league on notice, that Leeds will not be going down without a fight as the season progresses.
Leeds United should be worried as West Ham target star striker
One of the club’s relegation rivals is West Ham, who have not won a game in their last six. Nuno Espirito Santo cannot seem to get his side to get crucial results on the board since he took over. But that could be all set to change; according to The Athletic, the Hammers are going to push to sign Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen in January.
| Season | Games | Goals | Assists |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2024/25 | 38 | 14 | 5 |
| 2025/26 | 18 | 3 | 0 |
West Ham are set to offload current strike Niclas Fullkrug and will be looking for a replacement. The team is in serious need of firepower as they are one of the worst attacks in the league. Getting a striker who can find the back of the net regularly could be a huge boost to their survival chances and should put all the other teams on high alert.
The Whites have one of the best strikers in the league
Leeds United on the other hand, do not need to worry as they have one of the best in-form strikers in the Premier League. Dominic Calvert-Lewin took his goal tally to seven this season with a brace against Crystal Palace on Saturday. The 28-year old has now shown why Daniel Farke was so desperate to bring him to West Yorkshire in the summer.
| Player | Goals Scored |
|---|---|
| Dominic Calvert-Lewin | 7 |
| Lukas Nmecha | 4 |
| Anton Stach | 3 |
| Joe Rodon | 2 |
| Noah Okafor | 2 |
This run of games seems to have silenced fans who had a mixed reaction when he initially signed for the team. If Calvert-Lewin can keep scoring, then Leeds have a real chance of survival this season.
