Leeds United’s Meslier nominated for Premier League Save of the Month

Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier has received a nomination for March’s Premier League Save of the Month award.

The save in question was made during Leeds’ 1-0 loss away at Chelsea – and saw the young Frenchman quickly approach the onrushing Kai Havertz and deny the German’s close range effort with his right arm.

Also nominated for the award is Wolves keeper Jose Sa for his impressive fingertip save to keep out Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski, as well as West Ham’s Alphonse Areola who managed to tip Julio Enciso’s effort onto the woodwork during their match against Brighton.

Brentford stopper David Raya, Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale, and Spurs’ Fraser Forster are the other nominees.

It is not the first time Meslier has been put forward for the award after he was nominated in August 2022 for his denial of Wolves’ Leander Dendoncker during the Whites’ victory against the West Midlands outfit in their first game of the season.

The winner of the accolade is to be announced next week, and will be chosen by a combination of the fans’ vote and the decision of a panel of experts.

Whites’ supporters can back their young stopper on the Premier League’s official website here before the deadline of 12pm on Monday, 27 March.
