Leeds United’s new number 10 revealed

Leeds are set for a busy summer transfer window. Yesterday they announced the signing of former Barcelona left-back Junior Firpo and are expected to bring in a number of other players including a new midfielder.

However, there has already been a fair few names headed out of the Elland Road door. On Monday it was announced that Ezgjan Alioski would be leaving the club with immediate effect having failed to agree a new contract.

Firpo will replace the North Macedonian international at left-back but what about his vacated number 10 shirt.

Whilst some might have expected a new signing to inherit the famous shirt number, it sees that someone already at the club will be taking on the number.

Plenty of eagle-eyed viewers of Leeds United’s pre-season training videos have noticed that Raphinha seems to have a number 10 on his training shorts suggesting that he’ll take on the number next season.

In many ways the Brazilian winger is the perfect man to take on the shirt number as he’ll create and score goals – two things expected of the very best 10s in the league.

The decision should also please Leeds fans in general as it could suggest that Raphinha is staying put despite interest from Liverpool.
