‘Leeds were horrific…’ – Chelsea fans are all saying the same thing after being frustrated by Leeds United

Leeds United

Chelsea will be fuming after Leeds United managed to take a point away from Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night. The Blues were up by two goals after 60 minutes, but managed to throw the result away.

Before the game, Leeds fans were furious with the lineup, with many already criticizing Daniel Farke before a ball was kicked. The Whites began the game with six defenders, with James Justin at right back and Jayden Bogle on the wing. Lukas Nmecha was the sole attacking player in the lineup for majority of the game.

Joao Pedro scored the opener in the first half, with Chelsea going into half-time 1-0 up. Cole Palmer thought he had sealed the game with a goal in the second half. Leeds pulled one back from the penalty spot, and Noah Okafor capitalized on a mixup at the back to score the equalizer. Okafor was an inspired substitution from Farke, who decided to throw caution into the wind, taking off one defender.

Chelsea fans frustrated after Leeds United result

After the game, Joe Cole was shocked that his former side blew the lead and criticized them for not hanging on for the win. Paul Merson also made his opinion heard, as he slammed Chelsea’s defence for the result. They were not alone, some Blues fans on social media were having a meltdown after the result:

”How have we bottled that, two awful awful mistakes and leeds were horrific the whole game.” one fan posted.

Another added: ”absolute JOKE Conceding two goals at home after being two up is straight-up embarrassing.”

”Chelsea have given Leeds 4 points this season What unreal bottling this.”

One Chelsea fan believed the team were unlucky: ”We dominated the entire game and conceded 2 goals from 2 shots”

Another said Leeds were the worse team on the night: ”We were leading until he came and we bottled the 2 nill lead – ‘Leeds were horrific…”’

Deserved result for the Whites

Chelsea fans will keep saying the result is unfair, but Leeds United got the better of them when the game needed it. As soon as Daniel Farke made that substitution at 2-0 down, things changed. Noah Okafor stretched the game and gave the Whites one more option up top alongside Lukas Nmecha – these two were responsible for both of the goals scored.

In games like this, moments decide games and Leeds took theirs. You could argue Chelsea should have won, but ultimately the home side did not take their chances.
