Leeds youngster tipped to become England starter

Sky Sports News have included Archie Gray in their potential England XI for the 2028 European Championship.

The 17-year old is having a breakout season this year, he has featured in every game in the Championship this season. Gray has won over the crowd at Elland Road with his excellent displays in the middle of the park. His fine form this season has seen him keep out summer signings Glenn Kamara and Illia Gruev out of the team.

Sky Sports News named 11 players from the Championship who could potentially make the England XI at Euro 2028. The teenager was listed alongside other standouts this season including Jobe Bellingham, Charlie Patino and Brandon Clarke.

Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson tipped the youngster to be a dark horse to make the England squad for Euro 2024 just last week:

“My dark horse for the Euros squad, a real outsider from me, somebody I’ve watched regularly at Leeds United, Archie Gray… He’s a regular for Daniel Farke in the Leeds side this year, and I expect him to make great strides in the next 12/18 months.”

Gray’s Leeds teammate Sam Byram also had high praise for the young midfielder:

“He’s very mature for his age, we always have a laugh with him just being an idiot a lot of the time, but he’s not phased at all by playing for Leeds, one of the biggest clubs in England, in a sold out stadium. if I saw that side getting on top of him, if he was struggling, I’d definitely be there to put an arm around him and help him out, but I feel like he doesn’t need it.”
