This past summer, Leeds United saw Archie Gray move to Tottenham Hotspur, but he wasn’t the only Gray within the club; his younger brother Harry could be following in his older sibling’s footsteps.
Last season, Gray made 52 appearances for Leeds, providing two assists. Despite his age, he showed impressive versatility, stepping in as a right-back and filling various midfield roles throughout the campaign.
Leeds sold their potential budding star to Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window for a reported £30 million. Spurs secured a standout who only scratched the ceiling of his potential.
Eddie Gray predicts Gray brothers will play together
Although the younger Gray is only 15 years old, the player’s great uncle, Eddie Gray, already has high hopes for Harry to crack Leeds’ first team soon, just like his older brother did when he was coming up through the Whites’ youth system.
“Harry will follow in the same footsteps as Archie barring any accidents,” Eddie said to Sky Sports. “He’s very talented. He’ll come through the young teams at Leeds and hopefully play for our club.”
Moreover, Eddie believes that because the two players aren’t far apart in age, they will play together at some point in their careers. He doesn’t state whether it will be at Leeds or another club.
“I think they’re close enough in age to play together one day,” Eddie added. “When Frank and I played together, he was seven years younger than me.”
Tottenham could be looking to make that dream happen as they’re reportedly in on the younger Gray. According to a recent report from TBR Football, Spurs have already informed Leeds they would like to sign Harry.
However, Spurs aren’t the only Premier League club trying to attract the young Gray away from Leeds. TBR Football also reported that Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Newcastle United are all very interested in this promising talent.
Despite not turning 16 until next month, Gray is already making a significant impact in the U18 Premier League, having scored eight goals in just 11 appearances.
It will be interesting to see whether the two Gray brothers play together at Spurs or find their way to another club in the future, perhaps Leeds, where they can be teammates on the first team.
