Leeds United boss Daniel Farke was expected to make bold changes to the squad before their pre-season camp kicked off. But it took until the team’s first friendly against Manchester United for the news to be revealed.

In the post-match press conference, Farke dropped a bombshell. He revealed that he had spoken to Patrick Bamford and told him that he was not part of his plans for the upcoming season.

”I had a really open and honest conversation with him. Patrick knows how much I value him as a player.

He knows how much I rate him as a person so I felt it was my duty to have a very open and honest conversation right now straight away.

Second day of pre-season I told him he wasn’t in my plans for the Premier League season due to the fact he had difficult years in the last years.”

The 31-year old played a total of 239 minutes last season. Missing over 25 games.

Football League World have linked Patrick Bamford with a move to Leicester City.

The Foxes will be without club legend Jamie Vardy, who departed the club when his contract ended. Leicester are now in the market to replace the former club captain, with the Leeds man one of the options according to reports.

Bamford was linked with a move to Wrexham earlier this summer, but a club executive rubbished the reports.

Club already plan to add a new striker

Leeds are currently in the market to sign a new winger and a striker.

With the possible departure of Mateo Joseph, there could be plans for an extra player. Names like Callum Wilson have been linked. Leeds have reportedly been in contact with the free agent. This week, West Ham have also held talks with the player.

But Rodrigo Muniz seems to be top of Leeds’ priorities. Fulham are holding steady, but the Whites are hopeful a deal can be reached. Especially noting the fact that the Brazilian has 12 months remaining on his contract and is yet to sign a renewal.

Leeds will be pleased to offload Bamford’s wages

Patrick Bamford has been all but replaced at Leeds United, Lukas Nmecha arriving this summer was the first sign. And with news of another addition, he will go further down the pecking order.

Daniel Farke needs someone he can rely on all season, and Bamford’s injury issues are a problem. Leeds would be delighted if a club can take his salary off their hands. The 31-year old is one of the highest earners at the club.
