Leicester City set to make shock decision on Leeds United transfer move

Leeds United are scrambling to make additions before Monday night’s game against Everton. The club is still in the market to add options to their attack.

The frontline looks very thin after the departures of Mateo Joseph and Joe Gelhardt on loan. Patrick Bamford is also expected to leave before the end of this month. Leeds are facing the prospect of having Joel Piroe and Lukas Nmecha as their only central options heading into this season. That is not a smart decision considering Nmecha’s injury record.

Daniel Farke has asked for signings, and now the club need to press on and seal a few deals.

QUIZ: Can you name the team Leeds United signed these players from in the 2000s?

Newcastle are the latest club to register serious interest in signing Bilal El Khannouss.

The Magpies have concrete interest in the playmaker and have discussed triggering his release clause. According to TEAMtalk, Leeds are patient and monitoring the situation involving Newcastle. No bid has been made yet, but there are strong suggestions that an offer will be made soon.

The report also includes that Leicester City are very happy to wait for the release clause to expire this Friday. After that, the Foxes are allowed to put whatever price tag they want on the player. And now that a ‘big’ club is involved, this could see El Khannouss’ value sky rocket as the days go by.

What the Leicester boss has said about transfers

Foxes boss Martin Cifuentes was asked about the recent interest in start player Bilal El Khannouss. This is what he had to say about the attacker’s future:

“All good players will attract interest. It’s not just about Bilal, who is an excellent player. He did very well providing the two assists.

“But the process will always be the same. If someone leaves, it is my job to try to see how we can use the strengths and the quality in the squad. If I think we need something, I will look into the academy to see if we can find a player who can do this role. If not, then we go to the market.”

Leeds need to move fast

First, it was Igor Paixao – the club delayed and Marseille won the race. And if recent reports are to be believed, Leeds waited on Rodrigo Muniz, and now the striker has chosen a move to Italy.

If the Whites delay making an offer for El Khannouss, there is every chance he ends up at another team in the Premier League when the season kicks off.

I think Underwood is starting to make a mockery of his capability and Leeds a laughing stock. If he doesn’t pull his finger out we will be down before it’s even started.Goals win games not saving a bit of money to see if you can get a cheaper deal. The manager shouldn’t lose his job if he’s not given the staff to do the job.The owners must stop messing around and get the job done.

He is not doing anything wrong the deck is stacked against us as other clubs that are looking to sign him offer Europe as well as, in Newcastle, as much cash or maybe more. It will boil down to where the player wants to go. Even if Underwood would have offered £35k he would have waited to see who else came in.

Should have started negotiations 2 weeks ago. Of course we will delay & lose out.

You cant negotiate if there is nobody to negotiate with. The player was contacted by Leeds to ask would he come to Leeds if they put in the money required and he wanted to Waite.

I wish people would stop being knobs and blaming the club. It isn’t easy when it’s the players that is holding things up. El Khannouss simply wanted to delay and see if he could generate interest elsewhere. Which he has. We are at the bottom of this list for players to go to. We cannot offer the wages some of them are demanding ( or wont be bullied into over paying) and we can’t offer European football. Those on here blaming the club give your head a wobble. Support, if you can call it that, like this is not welcome. I hear Scumchester are looking for whinging fans. Interested?

Hey mate, agree with you to some extend. We all want Leeds to do well and have an equal chance to compete with other teams. However, if we don’t have the funds then of course nothing much we can do. But if the funds are available to use and spend, then how good you are in getting the player to come over shows your ability and capability as a sporting director in convincing the player to join us. Players like El Khannouss has indicated an interest in joining Leeds and we have the funds, but lack the negotiating skill to entice him over. For example, look at the several players we targeted and they have been hijacked by Sunderland. Sunderland has just been promoted. They are a team like us. Probably not as great as us as they have to go through playoff to get promoted. So any special reason… Read more »

Well said mate if the player does not want to move at that moment then there is nothing the club can do other than offer a shit load of cash over and above what is required and even then probably won’t get it done.

If the player does not want to join Leeds and you have the money to spend, then it goes down to your negotiation skill. If you still can’t convince the player to join you, then you are a lousy negotiator and doing a bad job at the club. Why, because when you have the cash to spend, you already won half the battle. What is left is just the negotiation skill. Agree?

Nothing is impossible. There are so many players available out there. Strikers, wingers, defenders, midfielders. Yes, each has their own asking price and choice of club to go to. End of the day, if I am being honest, it boils down to; 1) Whether you have the money. If you don’t have the funds then don’t brag you are going to support the manager with 150 million pounds to buy players. Don’t brag you are going to buy this player or that player or discussing terms with this or that player. 2) If you have the funds, then its your negotiation skill that matters. If you negotiate well and able to convince your targeted player that he should join Leeds then you are good and an asset to the club. Look at the several players we took in – goalkeeper, defenders, midfielders, striker. You mean these are silly players who… Read more »

Agree with you mate. Kinnear and mates may not be fantastic but they would have done a better job than current replacement. Should we drop back to Championship, the jury is out on Underwood, and not Farke. I sympathize with Farke and feel sorry for him.
