Leicester City to hand Leeds United a lifeline – First team star can finally leave after Daniel Farke decision

Daniel Farke made a big decision a few weeks ago, and the results have made the future clear for Leeds United. The Whites are now back on track for promotion after a few slip ups over the last month.

In a crucial game against Swansea City, Leeds somehow ended up dropping points in the last minute of the game as they drew 2-2. The look on Illan Meslier’s face said it all, his teammates were looking dejected after the ball hit the net. Leeds were in control of the game, taking the lead early before a mistake from Meslier put the Swans back in the game.

After making it 2-1 and seemingly heading for a big win, Swansea managed to equalize in stoppage time as Meslier was beaten easily at his near post.

Daniel Farke then made the decision to stick Karl Darlow in goal. The veteran has now been in the posts for the last three games, with the Whites winning twice and keeping a clean sheet. And with rumours surrounding Elland Road suggesting Leeds are already in the market for a new keeper, Illan Meslier’s days are numbered.

According to TEAMtalk, Leicester City are set to offer Meslier a lifeline this summer. The foxes see the French keeper as the ideal firs choice when Mads Hermansen leaves during the summer. Leicester will be among a host of European clubs keeping their eye on the situation involving Meslier and Leeds ahead of the transfer window.

Time for the club to move on from Illan Meslier

The Frenchman started off his career so well, and was highly rated across Europe. There were even talks that he was in line to become the next national team goalkeeper. But Meslier has failed to improve, and is even showing signs of decline. At 25-years old, he is still young for a keeper, but the problem is he still commits the same errors he did when he was a 22-year old. Leeds United and Daniel Farke have every right to move on this summer.
