The midfielder is hopeful that his new club can make a promotion push in League One this season.
Bate joined Oxford United this season on loan, as the club felt the youngster needed playing time to develop. The midfielder joined Leeds in 2021, and featured mostly in the Premier League 2 with the junior side. Now, Bate looks to make an impact in his first season with Oxford:
“We’re aiming for the play-offs, that’s our main aim and personally I think we’ll do it.
“It’s been slow but two wins on the bounce and we’ll suddenly be right back in it.”

The physicality of senior football is difficult for younger players, Bate revealed. The 19-year old admitted he was not in top shape at the start of the season, and feels like he’s better now and can show what he’s capable of:
“I feel like I started off a little bit slow and then it picked up a little bit, and now I’ve got full fitness and full confidence in my abilities so hopefully I can push on even further and start affecting games even more.
