Amidst the busy transfer window at Leeds United, a lot of people missed some deals that went under the radar. The Whites made 10 new signings, but it was the departures that carried serious weight.
Being promoted to the Premier League is not an easy task, as a newly promoted side you have to navigate the transfer window properly. And there is a high chance you change most of the players that help you clinch promotion.
That is what has happened at Leeds United in the summer window; Daniel Farke took the opportunity to move players that he did not see as part of his plans this season. Joe Gelhardt who never got a chance in the first team was loaned out and Max Wober was also loaned out after being told to find a new team. Sam Greenwood, Darko Gyabi and Mateo Joseph were some of the other departures.

The major one was Patrick Bamford. After years at the club, Farke told the striker that he was not in the team’s plans this season. Bamford was left out of the pre-season squad, and had to play with the U21s for match fitness.
Leeds and the player came to a mutual agreement to terminate his deal, bringing a long career to an end. The 31-year old was linked with a move to Celtic recently, but the deal fell through.
Now, Pete O’Rourke is reporting that the MLS might be Bamford’s next destination:
“There is interest in Bamford from a few MLS clubs,” he told Football Insider.
“Bamford got paid up and had his contract cancelled at Leeds to allow him to explore his options.
“A lot of clubs maybe who didn’t get the striking reinforcements they needed in the summer transfer window will look at Bamford.
“Bamford is a top player, maybe he wasn’t going to be in the picture for Leeds in the Premier League but he’s proven he can do it in the Championship.
“MLS clubs believe they can tempt him over to America at this stage of his career.
“Whether English clubs make a move, it might depend on any injuries that happen in the coming weeks.
“He’s one of the better free agents in the market right now.
“If any clubs still need a striker, Bamford will be high on their list and I expect his future will be resolved and he will find a new club soon.“
With Inter Miami star Lionel Messi having renewed his contract, a meeting with Patrick Bamford is very likely.
