Liverpool have decided on the transfer of Bobby Clark this summer window following interest from various clubs. Leeds United are keenly following the midfielder hoping to bolster their midfield after a series of high-profile exits.
United’s league rivals Norwich City have also shown interest in the midfielder. Red Bull Salzburg under manager Pep Lijnders has bid for the youngster making an offer of Ā£6 million.
Pep was an assistant to JĆ¼rgen Klopp at Liverpool. Both the coaches liked the midfielder from the start. Clark broke into the first team at Liverpool under these managers where he was given ample chances to showcase his talent.
Following Klopp’s exit, Lijnders has joined Red Bull Salzburg and the English midfielder hasn’t received any starts under the new Gaffer Arne Slot. Pep would like to use this opportunity to swoop the talented Englishman from Liverpool.
Clark missed The Reds’ tour to the US following a back injury. Now, things have improved but Slot doesn’t see the youngster in his plans for the new season.
The 19-year-old midfielder made 12 appearances for Liverpool last season. JĆ¼rgen labeled him “exceptional” after his performance in a Europea League match against Sparta Prague. He managed to both score and assist on the occasion.
Liverpool make transfer decision for Bobby Clark
The youngster doesn’t fall into Slot’s plans for the season. He is an extra but Liverpool wouldn’t want to miss out on an exceptional midfielder who can grow into something big in the future.
Hence, according to Football Insider, The Reds have decided to send the player away on loan rather than sell him. This is good news for Leeds United as they are interested in getting a midfielder following the exit of mainstays.
The Whites lost Archie Gray to Tottenham, following their promotion play-off final defeat to Southampton. The club was forced to sell the youngster due to a mix of financial and status problems.
Midfield mainstay Glen Kamara left for Rennes after only a season at Elland Road. The Finnish footballer made a significant impact and had cemented his spot in the middle of the park at Elland Road.
The West Yorkshire club are also eyeing Birmingham City midfielder Jordan James. However, Bobby Clark can be an inexpensive and temporary solution before Leeds get into the Premier League.
There were also talks of Norwich’s Gabriel Sara but valuation differences led to the club selling him to Galatasaray for Ā£20 million. At the moment, United are tied by various EFL PSR rules which also led to the forced release of various players.
