The events of the past few weeks have now kickstarted transfer activity at Leeds United. The Whites assessed the squad early in the transfer window and can now make some signings.
Lukas Nmecha is expected to be the first of multiple arrivals in the next couple of days. The German forward joined the Whites on Sunday as a free agent. Leeds are also accelerating talks to complete a deal for Udinese’s Jaka Bijol. The Slovenian defender is set to arrive in the coming days.
But one area of the squad has thin depth early in the transfer window. Leeds decided to hold talks with Sam Byram and Junior Firpo over new contracts, but so far, there have been no advancements. When it comes to Firpo, multiple outlets have already confirmed his move to Real Betis.

Without Byram and Firpo, that leaves just two first team fullbacks at the club. Jayden Bogle and Isaac Schmidt are the only options in the position heading into pre-season. But there have been reports of a potential arrival.
Liverpool left back Kostas Tsimikas has been strongly linked with a move to Elland Road. The Reds were reportedly open to a sale as they continue to pursue a move for Bournemouth left back Milos Kerkez.
Tsimikas has recently spoken to Sport24 about his future at Anfield:
“If you think about it, not all players play 50 games, some play 50, others 10, others play five. I think 27 games I played on average over the last four years is a good number. I would definitely like to play more, but from then on in this league, with this team I was always happy and I always gave my best, so I was OK with the games I played.”
Door is open for move
Liverpool will eventually sign Tsimikas’ replacement, which leaves the door open for a move to Elland Road. The Greece international ticks a lot of boxes; Premier League experience, and being an attack-minded fullback. Leeds have the perfect target to replace Junior Firpo.
