There is still an air of uncertainty at Leeds United this summer. Currently, no active moves have been made when it comes to permanent transfers.
With just around 70 days to go till next season, the club needs to put a rush on their plans. All the factors for the club are available to make moves. Leeds chairman Paraag Marathe has already promised fans that the club is willing to spend this summer, in their hopes to maintain their Premier League status beyond next season:
“Together we are going to build the best squad we can with every penny we are allowed to spend to compete in the Premier League. I’m under no illusions that it’s going to be easy. I know all the stats, that last season’s three promoted clubs went right back down.”

Lyon close in on Leeds United star

The Whites are yet to take the next steps concerning the announcement they made last month. Junior Firpo and Sam Byram’s futures are yet to be confirmed. Leeds announced that they would hold talks with the duo over new contracts.
It has gone quiet on the Byram front, but the general belief is that the veteran would stay if a deal is offered. When it comes to Junior Firpo, it is much different. The 28-year old currently has a contract offer on the table at Elland Road, and the decision will lie with him.
This week, French side Lyon have added their names to the list of clubs chasing Firpo. According to Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, the Ligue 1 side have an agreement with Firpo, and are pushing to complete a deal.
Where does Firpo go?
The prospect of European football could be too much for Leeds to compete with. Firpo has not been straightforward with his future plans this summer, and it would be no surprise if he decides to leave Elland Road.
The club now have to wait on his decision.
