Major Crystal Palace transfer update could open door for Leeds United deal

Jorgen Strand Larsen Leeds United

The last two Leeds United games have shown that the club need serious reinforcements if they are to make it till the end of the season. The 49ers were right with their approach in this January window.

Since the start of the year, the Whites have managed to score more than one goal in just one of their five Premier League fixtures. Daniel Farke has done well to turn the team’s fortunes around since the end of last year. Leeds have gone on an incredible run of games; losing just once since the start of December.

After their draw against Everton on Monday night, Simon Jordan criticized the team on talkSPORT for ‘too many draws’. The former Crystal Palace chief had a solid point; too many times this season, games have turned into draws and losses simply because Leeds players could not find the back of the net. So it made sense when the club’s ownership signed Facundo Buonanotte on loan till the end of the season.

Leeds United could be back in for Jorgen Strand Larsen after major update

Leeds United attempted to sign Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen too, but as of Thursday morning it was reported that the Norwegian was set to sign elsewhere. The Whites were one of the first clubs to pursue a deal for the 25-year old, but Crystal Palace managed to jump the queue in the last minute in an attempt to wrap up the deal.

The latest news emerging around this transfer could now open the door once again for the 49ers. According to BBC journalist Sami Mokbel, Crystal Palace have threatened to walk away from a deal for Jorgen Strand Larsen. This news emerged late on Thursday night, and now puts the whole transfer in limbo days before the February deadline.

Door opens for 49ers once again

If this news is true and the London club eventually walk away from the deal, it opens the door for Leeds United. A failed move on the part of Wolves could mean that Jorgen Strand Larsen is available for a cheaper fee. The London club would not be in a strong position to bargain considering how the transfer deadline is just days away. An insider report revealed that the club was desperate to sell considering their position in the league would mean relegation. Leeds United need to capitalize on this to wrap up a move for the Norwegian striker.
