Leeds United star Mateo Joseph seems to have reached a crucial point in his career this summer. It will come down to a decision the club will make over his future.
The 21-year old arrived from Espanyol three seasons ago. Victor Orta was crucial in bringing him to Elland Road, and Leeds even beat out Real Madrid to seal the deal. The forward’s rise to the first team was lightning quick; within months, he had already made his first team debut.
Joseph signed a new contract just last year as the club felt he was in a good position for the future. The forward became more and more influential to the team.

This past season can be seen as his first true campaign as a first team star. He made 39 league appearances and scored three goals and provided three assists – a decent start to his career. Joseph also continued to thrive at youth level for Spain, and has become a regular with them.
The 21-year old has been attracting interest from big clubs this summer including Strasbourg and Real Betis. On Thursday, there were multiple reports that the Spanish side had reached an agreement for a cut-price deal. But a report from Estadio Deportivo claims that a deal is far from being reached.
According to them, Leeds feel Betis are far away from their valuation of the player, and that nothing is near to being finalized.
Mateo Joseph could still remain at the club
If Leeds get the chance to keep the forward at the club they should absolutely do. He is a very good player with high potential, and has shown he can contribute to a team. Leeds need to help his development rather than moving on from him so quickly.
The club may have found their long term striker, but if they sell him now, they will never really know.
