Leeds United defied expectations to avoid relegation last season and finish 14th in the Premier League table, ahead of a few established top-flight sides.
However, Leeds chairman Paraag Marather has already insisted that the club are still a couple of years away from behaving like an established Premier League team.

Leeds United may not be able to spend as much as they want to
Paraag Marathe was quick to point out that Leeds will have to work in the new SCR era of the Premier League ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth admitted that Marathe was keen to talk about SCR, as Leeds’ spending power will be more limited now than it was under PSR.
He insisted that Leeds would have less freedom to spend more money under the new SCR rules than under the previous PSR era.
Smyth said on the Inside Elland Road podcast: “I think there is always an element of expectation management.
“They have definitely wanted to stress the point that they don’t have as much spending freedom under the Squad Cost Ratio as they did under PSR.
“It’s the kind of message that we previously put out.”
Leeds need player sales
Leeds will have to sell several players in the upcoming transfer window to boost their ability to bring in top-quality signings ahead of next season.
Wilfried Gnonto, Joel Piroe and Sebastiaan Bornauw are some of the squad players who could be sold this summer. The Whites are looking to cash in on loan stars Largie Ramazani and Joe Gelhardt.
However, Leeds may need to sell one of their mainstays to bring in big money for at least one player, and Pascal Struijk looks like the one who could be moved on.
He has a year left on his contract, and Leeds must not wait for him to make a decision and find a way to bring in top money from his departure this summer.
These are going to be necessary steps if Leeds want to sign the ‘difference-makers’ to upgrade their squad ahead of next season.
